H-day

On this day 50 years ago Sweden switched from driving on the left-hand side of the road to the right. The 3rd of September 1967 was named Dagen H (the H-day, with H standing for Höger (Right).
Apparently the transition went well, in parts due to a massive information campaign. You can probably spot the H-logo in the magazine cover above. Below you'll find other H-day related items.

Image sources: Wikipedia: Stockholmsutställningen 1930, Wikipedia: Stockholm Exhibition (1930), Kornknarren, Stockholms historia, + my own photos and scans.

Wikipedia: Stockholm Exhibition (1930)

"The fair was significant in the history of architecture in Stockholm, firmly establishing functionalism as the dominant architectural style in Sweden."

"The two head architects were
Gunnar Asplund and Sigurd Lewerentz."

"All of the fair buildings were temporary. But the fair's ideas lived on and influenced the shape of Swedish housing for years to come."

In hohen Norden Schweden

This is sort of a repost only I've now removed the original text "In hohen Norden Schweden" from this 1960s tourism poster by Olle Skrede.

Sweden in the raw

"Taken from one of Russ Meyer's earlier and lesser known films called Europe in the raw. The equivalent of reading Playboy for the articles, this skin flick poses as a travel documentary, while spicing it up with some nudity inbetween. Any nudity in this clip has carefully been removed. What we do get is views of Stockholm and Millesgården featuring statues by Carl Milles."

Wikipedia: "The Swedes long held a virtual worldwide monopoly on safety matches, with the industry mainly situated in Jönköping, in 1903 called Jönköpings & Vulcans Tändsticksfabriks AB."

Slussen, Stockholm. A postcard probably from the 50s or the 60s. It is a part of a set called Stockholm by night.
